TOTAL RECONSTRUCTION OF THE LOWER LIP FOLLOWING THE WIDE EXCISION OF THE CANCER

Abstract
|
|
|
The aims of reconstruction of the lip are both aesthetic effects and functional restoration.
We used Webster, modified Bernard. Szymanowski, Karapandzic techniques for lower lip reconstruction of 7 cases after the resection of the malignant cancer.
We think that the Webster´ s technique is one of the excellent methods in one stage operation in spite of tightness of the lip and the Karapandzic´s thechique in which neuromuscular bundles are preserved is also an excellent method in functional aspect in spite of the resultant microstomia. And it is desirable that the preventive radical neck dissection should be performed after biopsy of the palpable regional lymphnode.
